"Come along and join our friendship group, everyone is welcome to be our friend..."
With the help and support of the Voluntary Services at Darent Valley Hospital the friendship group was set up in January 2005. It was the brainchild of two widows, Kate Cramp and Joan Warwick.
They met each other whilst their late husbands were in hospital together and become good friends. At one of their coffee meetings, they started to discuss other people who were in the same position as themselves. They both felt that Sundays can be a lonely day so decided to set up a group for people to be able to meet up for a couple of hours. This is how the Darent Valley Hospital friendship group got started.
The Group now meet on the 1st and 3rd Sunday. The Group no longer meets in the lower floor restaurant. It now meets in the Phillip Farrant Centre. Once any someone make contact by either contacting the fundraising office on 01322 428392 or emailing joanwarwick@btinternet.com. Joan will get in touch with the person to make arrangements to meet then in the foyer at 1pm she will then take them down to meet everyone in the Friendship group.
