I qualified as a general nurse 34yrs ago, at Medway Maritime hospital. I undertook an Orthopaedic Certificate course, in Chelmsford and worked in Orthopaedics, for several years. I undertook my Occupational Health nurse training at the RCN, and am now on part 1 and 3 of the NMC register as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse.  This is a branch of nursing that examines the relation between health and work. We work to prevent, investigate and treat workplace related illnesses and injuries.

I have had experience in as an Occupational Health Nurse, in a Steel Mill, Dungeness Nuclear Power Station and Sainsbury’s.  The role of Occupational Health is very variable and the nature of the work undertaken is determined by the industry that the position is based in. I have had 18 years’ experience with the NHS, working at different Trusts within Kent. I recently joined Dartford and Gravesham Trust in October 2017.
