I commenced my adult nurse training in 1981 at Eastbourne District General Hospital and qualified as RGN in 1984.  I then worked for 2 years as a staff nurse on the female medical ward at St Mary's Hospital in Eastbourne.

In 1986 I went to the Brook Hospital, Greenwich working on the children's ward as a staff nurse and then on secondment went to Great Ormond Street Hospital, London to train as a Registered Sick Children's Nurse qualifing as RSCN in 1987 and then returning to the Brook Hospital.  In 1990 I joined Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust and became the ward manager/charge nurse of 7B Joyce Green Hospital for 7 years, before taking up my present post in 1997.  I had always had an interest in diabetes and wanted to offer support and education to children with diabetes and their families. I am now the Team Lead Nurse for Paediatric Diabetes.
