I am a nurse specialist for emergency general surgical patients at Darent Valley Hospital.
This means I see patients that are assessed, treated, admitted or managed with further follow up investigations such as scans.
The general surgery patients will include conditions such as appendicitis, perforated bowel / ulcers or other pathology, such as gallbladder disease. These are a few examples of what we see and treat. Some of these conditions may require further investigations and / or urgent surgical procedures or in some cases major surgery.
