Specialist Bereavement Midwife, Sharon Hurst, receives Special Recognition Award

The Trust is extremely proud to report that our Specialist Bereavement Midwife, Sharon Hurst, has been presented with a Special Recognition Award at this year’s Mariposa Awards.

Mariposa is a UK-based charity that provides support to anyone who has suffered the loss of a baby at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in infancy.

In 2018, The Mariposa Trust joined with actress and Charity Ambassador, Kym Marsh, to launch the 'Mariposa Awards'. The awards look for midwives, nurses, bereavement midwives, doctors and community members who have gone above and beyond in the care and support that they have provided for people who have experienced baby loss.

Sharon was nominated for the award by Claire and Lee Norman, who sadly lost their baby, Ernie, in July 2021. Having been nominated and shortlisted, Sharon was invited to the Charity’s flagship ball on 11 March 2023 at London’s Landmark Hotel.

Speaking about the evening, Sharon said: “It was an excellent night and I was absolutely delighted to receive a Special Recognition Award.”
