We are committed to creating a culture where staff are empowered to speak up about any concerns they may have and we are very pleased that Consultant Gabriel Awadzi has volunteered himself to become DGT’s new Freedom To Speak Up Guardian.

He will be supported by a team of Freedom To Speak Up Ambassadors, who provide support to staff across the organisation. They act as an independent and impartial source of advice to staff at any stage of raising a concern and they can also ensure issues are raised at a senior level. They provide a valuable service and their role has a direct impact on continuously improving safety and quality for our patients, their families, as well as enhancing the experience of our staff. This is critical for our drive towards having a zero tolerance for harassment and bullying in the Trust.

We know it is not easy to raise concerns and sometimes difficult to know what to do. Our aspiration is that with the support from the Freedom to Speak Up Ambassadors and the Time to Talk Champions, that staff can raise concerns and be supported to resolve these.

Welcome to your new role, Gabriel Awadzi.
