Following NHS England’s launch of the National preceptorship framework for nursing, Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust (DGT) has been working conscientiously to align our programme to this national standard.

Preceptorship is a structured start for newly qualified practitioners. The main aim is to welcome and integrate newly registered practitioners into their new team and place of work. Preceptorship helps professionals to translate and embed their knowledge into everyday practice, grow in confidence and have the best possible start to their careers.

DGT’s dedicated Clinical Education team has worked to implement a successful programme that not only increases the support provided to newly registered staff but also to our colleagues that are supporting these individuals.

As a result, we are extremely proud to have been awarded the National Preceptorship Interim Quality Mark to show that the Trust’s programme meets the national framework.

Assistant Head of Clinical Education & Clinical Placement Facilitator, Emma Tooze, said “I would like to thank all involved in supporting and contributing to the Trust’s Preceptorship Working Group and the ongoing work involved in the Preceptorship Evaluation Committee that meets each quarter. These efforts are testament to the huge success of our Preceptorship Programme.”
