If you receive an invitation to attend an interview, please confirm as soon as possible if you are able or unable to attend.

Once you have confirmed you are attending, we expect you to attend. Therefore if for any reason you are unable to attend the interview please can you let us know as soon as possible so not to waste the interview panel’s time.

Please note, if you are invited to attend an interview some of the questions you will be asked will be based on Our Values, we therefore recommend you read Our Values document before you attend interview.

Preparing for the interview

  • Plan your journey, set off in good time and aim to be early.  If you are going to be late, ring and let us know.
  • First impressions count:  think about your appearance, wear something smart and appropriate but make sure you are comfortable. .
  • Be aware of your body language.  Make eye contact but don’t over do it.  Make sure you address everyone in the room.  Don’t fold your arms; this makes you appear defensive or uninterested.
  • Interview questions are mostly based on the job description and person specification, and the information you provided in your application form.  So make sure you are familiar with them.
  • Please note, if you are invited to attend an interview some of the questions you will be asked will be based on Our Values, we therefore recommend you read Our Values document before you attend interview.
  • Prepare examples that show how you meet the person specification criteria.
  • Do your research; it helps to know as much as possible about what the role involves, The Trust, relevant recent research articles, recent changes to professional practice etc.
  • Listen to the questions carefully, think about how you answer, give as much information as possible so the question is fully answered, but don’t ramble.
  • The interview is a two way process, so ask the panel questions to find out more about the job, and make sure its right for you.

After the interview

The chair of the interview panel will contact you to let you know the outcome of the interview.

If you are not successful, ask for feedback as it will help you prepare for future interviews.
