Service Overview
Children's outpatients sits within The Children’s Resource Centre (CRC). It looks after children from birth until to the age of 16 years. We provide outpatient appointments for children who see a wide range of general and specialist’s teams, these include general paediatrics, surgeons, urologists, neurologists, cardiologists, diabetes, sickle cell, respiratory, epilepsy and psychologists. Both consultants and Specialist Nurses run the clinics. We also have visiting teams from other hospitals, such as the Evelina.
Paediatric Outpatients also runs clinics out of Queen Mary’s Hospital, Acorns, on a Monday and a Wednesday.
What to Expect
On arrival to the clinic, some children will have their weight and height checked. Depending on the reason of their visit, some children will also have vital signs taken, including blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation's. We can also perform other investigations such as allergy skin prick tests, ECG’s, overnight oxygen saturations, sweat tests and urinalysis, if requested by the Doctor. The clinic also runs daily phlebotomy clinics for under 12 years.

All Children 0-11 Years
A Paediatric Phlebotomy service is available at Darent Valley Hospital for children aged under 12 years by appointment only.

Clinics are all day Monday – Friday 9-16:00 (excluding Thursday afternoon)
Skin numbing cream can be collected from children’s outpatients or purchased from your local pharmacy. Please follow advice on application from whoever provides it or leaflet included with the cream.
Children 12 and over
If requested by GP please go to the Walk In Service at Gravesham Community Hospital. Open Monday-Friday 08:15 – 16:00, last patient admitted at 15:50. Saturday 9-13:00, last patient admitted 12:50.
