The following dates are now fully booked for work experience:
- 9th - 13th June
- 16th - 20th June
- 23rd - 27th June
- 30th June – 4th July
- 7th - 11th July
- 14th - 18th July
- 21st - 25th July
- 28th July – 1st August
Please do not apply for any of the above dates as your application will be declined.
- Students must be 17 or older by the time of placement.
- Placements are one week (Monday-Friday) and limited to one per student per year.
- We cannot offer placements in Maternity, Pharmacy or Haematology.
- Paediatric placements are only available Tuesday - Friday morning in outpatient clinics (no access to wards).
- Complete the online application form (at the bottom of this page).
- Send your CV and a strong supporting statement to tracy.brooker@nhs.net.
- Make sure to get school approval for the dates as they cannot be changed once booked.
- Once placed, you cannot move to another department.

Volunteering Option:
If work experience isn’t available, consider volunteering. This involves non-clinical tasks and gives a good insight into healthcare work.
Clinical placements are shadowing only.
Physiotherapy:
For students considering Physiotherapy as a career or applying to university. Shadowing covers General Medicine, Trauma Orthopaedics, Stroke, and MSK. Offered for 3 days in April and August.

For university applicants or undergraduates seeking discipline-specific experience. Students can observe Central Specimen Reception, Biochemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Microbiology. Placements can last up to 5 days.
