Trust's Macmillan Project Manager, Meena Midda is awarded BOPA 'Above and Beyond' Award

We are proud to share that DGT’s Macmillan Project Manager, Meena Midda, was recently awarded the BOPA Above and Beyond Award.

Meena was nominated by Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse, Marie Payne and Chief Pharmacist, Simon Wan who said:

“Meena Midda, our Trust’s Macmillan Project Manager has successfully led on the opening of the Trust’s innovative Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) Outreach service. Expanding cancer treatment into two community sites at Queen Mary’s Hospital in October 2023, serving the population of Sidcup and the surrounding area and opening the Manor Hotel site, in Gravesend, Kent. The Trust can now proudly offer cancer treatment at three different locations. These achievements have enabled the Trust to deliver on our key objectives of increasing capacity, improve patient experience and bring treatment closer to home.

Meena is hugely personable, quickly gaining the support of various stakeholders and bringing them on this this journey together. She has involved our patients, gaining their feedback for what is important to them. Through this listening, the service now regularly achieves a 100% patient rating with numerous positive feedback.

Although praise must go to the whole outreach team and various stakeholders, special praise must go to Meena for her dedication, persistence, vision and relentless drive to make this project a success and ensure our local population benefited from the new service.”

The BOPA Above and Beyond Award celebrates those achievements of BOPA members that often go unnoticed. It acknowledges colleagues who have implemented an innovative project; exceptional team players; or fantastic role models.

Through her work on the SACT Outreach Service, Meena has helped to transform the experience and lives of cancer patients throughout the community and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of this award.

Congratulations, Meena! Keep up the fantastic work.
