A major upgrade in pharmacy technology was officially unveiled this week with the launch of a new robot dispensing system at the Trust.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Dr Jackie Craisatti, Trust Chair was joined by Andrea Sparks, Pharmacy Deputy Operations Manager and Alison Moulton, Pharmacy Operational Manager to announce the names of the robots, Tom and Jerry.
The new robot can manage up to 30,000 medication packs and uses QR code technology to track expiry dates and support efficient stock rotation. Since going live, the system has already contributed to a 10 percent improvement in TTO (To Take Out) turnaround time and a 14 to 16 percent reduction in to-follow items.
Simon Wan, Chief Pharmacist extended his thanks to the entire Pharmacy Team and gave special recognition to Andrea Sparks and Alison Moulton for their significant roles in making this project a success.
This automation marks a significant improvement in the way medications are stored, managed and dispensed, bringing benefits to staff and patients alike.
