Our first Covid-19 positive patient left our ITU on the 7th April and today he walked out of the hospital off home to a huge round of applause from our staff.
Uber driver Biniam, aged 43, originally from Eritrea and residing in the UK for the last 15 years, became unwell after a holiday to Venice to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
He came into Darent Valley Hospital on the 22nd March and as his health deteriorated he was moved to ITU were he spend 12 days on a ventilator.
Biniam's condition improved steadily and on Tuesday he was moved from ITU to Beech ward and the fantastic news is that he is well enough to be discharged home back to his family.
We wish him a speedy recovery and well done to all the staff involved in his care and all of our other patients.
