Healthwatch presents award to the DGT team
On 30th March 2022, Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust were invited to attend the Healthwatch recognition awards where we were presented with the award in recognition of:
Excellence in enabling local people to monitor the standard of services and be involved in improving them.
Prior to the pandemic, Darent Valley Hospital used both their own Nightingale (Ward Accreditation) approach as well as visits by Healthwatch volunteers to drive quality improvements. Healthwatch volunteers worked alongside clinical staff to visit a ward, and the volunteers engaged with patients to gather their thoughts and experiences. This feedback was used alongside clinical evidence to drive necessary improvements which enabled us to win this award.
Pat Taylor, Healthwatch volunteer, said “Working alongside the Nightingale project was hugely rewarding. We felt the feedback we got from the patients fed directly into ideas for ward improvement and that it would be followed up in later ward visits”.
