The Trust is elated to announce that two of our teams were crowned winners at last night’s Healthwatch Recognition Awards.

The annual awards evening aims to recognise and celebrate the people, innovations and collaborations that listen to the public and deliver successful projects and programmes across Kent and Medway.

Our fantastic DGT Patient Experience Carer team received the award for ‘Recognition for excellence in involving people in the commissioning and delivery of services’ and were celebrated for their invaluable emotional support they offer to our patients.

This dedicated team is made up of happy, bright and enthusiastic individuals from lots of different backgrounds and walks of life. They bring energy and passion to their role as well as a wealth of non-clinical life experience which brings a human touch and understanding to our patients to ensure that in partnership with our clinical teams the holistic needs of our patients are met.

Secondly, our amazing Adolescent Transition Service team scooped up the award in the ‘Recognition for excellence in listening to people’s view and thoughts about services’ category.

This service has delivered a number of exciting initiatives with children and young people, particularly the 6-month engagement programme with primary school children, which saw the team work in partnership with students and parents to deliver a concept for Our Children’s Hospital. As part of the programme, the team invited a group children and young people to Darent Valley Hospital for a tour to gain valuable feedback and insight from their perspective. This consultation has been invaluable in shaping the future of our services.

DGT’s Head of Patient and Public Engagement, Charmain Wright said: “Both of these teams are richly deserving of these accolades. Their hard work and commitment to consistently making a positive impact on our patients’ experiences of care and treatment at DGT is tangible every day. Well done!”
