On Thursday 24th February, as part of the Inspiring The Future initiative, Denise Aspland - Head of Clinical Education, attended the first face to face careers event since the pandemic. The event was held at Coloma Catholic Girls school in Croydon and alongside 60 various organisations, Denise promoted and answered questions about a career in the NHS and in particular, a day in the life of a Nurse.
All year groups from 7 to 13 (ages 11 - 17yrs) spent time asking questions on how to start a career in the NHS and what opportunities were available to them. There was a lot of interest in Paediatric Nursing, Midwifery and Medicine in particular. Students asked some fantastic questions around entry requirements into the Healthcare sector and the experience required. The question “how do you deliver a baby?” was also asked!
The event was a huge success and had a multitude of organisations such as Google, Met Police, Bank of America and many others in attendance. It was inspiring to see such a huge interest in working for the NHS, with many of the year 13 girls already applying to universities for a career in Health.
