CQC Good ImageFollowing an unannounced focused inspection of our urgent and emergency care services at Darent Valley Hospital in February, the Care Quality Commission assessed the improvements made and has now rated the service as ‘good’ in a new report.

Inspectors highlighted the service’s well-planned care to meet the needs of our patients and how ‘all staff were committed to improving services continually’. Our urgent and emergency services’ ‘good’ performance from a previous ‘requires improvement’ rating reflects the provision of effective and caring treatment, which is undoubtedly a testament to the professionalism and commitment of our staff.

Louise Ashley, Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust Chief Executive, said: After the most difficult years in our history, I am extremely proud of our emergency department colleagues who have been under immense pressure during the pandemic and have shown resilience throughout. Our staff treat patients with compassion and are constantly making progress to ensure the Trust can provide the highest quality of treatment to the local community, which we are committed to delivering. As part of our journey to become an outstanding organisation, we are now working hard across the Trust to implement the CQC’s recommendations, so we can continue to make improvements and deliver increasingly high-quality care to our communities.
