Professor Seshadri Sriprasad, joined DVH in September 2005 as consultant urologist and has made great progress both as a urological surgeon and in making the department a centre of national reckoning in Endourology.

He established the Stone Centre and is its Director. This centre provides comprehensive care to stone patients and has an onsite lithotripter, holmium laser and PCNL (keyhole) surgery for larger stones is routinely performed.  The centre has an active clinical research programme in various aspects of stone disease resulting in presentations at national and international meetings and numerous publications. New procedures and techniques have also been devised. Newer telescopes have been trialled.

The centre now has three research fellows and has grown to become a tertiary referral centre for stones from across the region. There are four Consultant Stone Surgeons.

Professor Sriprasad started laparoscopic kidney surgery in DVH and is the main kidney cancer surgeon. He started laparoscopic cryotherapy for small kidney tumours and DVH has become a regional centre for this mode of treatment. 

Professor Sriprasad treats urinary stones, kidney cancer and provides general urological care.

He is the clinical director for the Directorate of Urology and Nephrology and was instrumental in starting acute dialysis in DVH. The Poplar unit commissioned in October 2013, has a comprehensive urology and nephrology clinical set up with facilities for biopsies, flexible cystoscopy and advanced diagnostics. It also houses the bladder hyperthermia and lithotripsy units.

Prof Sriprasad is the Chairman of the hospital R&D and was advisor to NICE on technology in urology and surgical techniques and co- authored the NICE guideline on renal cyst management (IP380). 

He has published over 50 peer reviewed papers and has over 80 published abstracts. He is the Associate editor for The Journal of Clinical Urology. He is an invited speaker to all the major national and international urology meetings and is a member of scientific committee for the World Congress of Endourology 2015.  He was elected to the BAUS section of endourology and RSM councils for the last 3 years. He is the national selector of the Urology ST3 and has been a post graduate examiner for many universities.

Winner of the Everidge and Markovitz prizes, Professor Sriprasad was given the National Bronze Award for clinical excellence in 2014.

The Canterbury Christchurch University appointed Professor Sriprasad as a Visiting Professor of Urology in their institute of Medical Sciences in May 2015. This will further increase the collaboration between the university and DVH and increase translational research.

Professor Sriprasad was elected to the BAUS (British Association of Urological Surgeons) council in June 2015 to represent the South East coast (Kent Surrey and Sussex), by virtue of this he is also the Regional Specialty Professional Advisor (RSPA) for the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Professor Sriprasad has urology clinics every Thursday afternoons and alternate Tuesdays Whole days at DVH.
