About me

Having completed MRCP in 1996, I obtained my Specialist Registrar training in General & Geriatric Medicine in the North Thames Rotation. I am duly accredited in General and Geriatric Medicine. I worked as a Consultant Physician in General & Geriatric Medicine from 2002 to 2007 at Southend University Foundation NHS Trust, Essex and moved to the south of the river for family reasons. I joined the Darent Valley Hospital in November 2008 as Consultant Physician.

I do General Medical takes and cover the Clinical Decisions Unit one day a week, reviewing medical admissions and providing a consultant led medical care. I have a holistic approach to patient care.

My specialist area is Stroke and TIA. The thrombolysis treatment for stroke was started in DVH after my appointment. I am involved in providing comprehensive care for stroke patients, the pathway starting in A&E where patients are assessed urgently and provided thrombolysis treatment where appropriate.  

My inpatients base is the Combined stroke Unit.

Outpatient Clinics:

  • Weekly Stroke clinic
  • Weekly General & Geriatric Medicine clinics
  • TIA clinics (part of the daily TIA clinic service)

I am the lead for Stroke Research at Darent Valley Hospital and our unit is taking part in National & International trials. I am active in teaching and training. I am keen to increase the public awareness of stroke.
