The Radiology Department at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust achieved UKAS accreditation, a nationally recognised standard for quality, in June 2026.
UKAS accreditation is awarded following a detailed independent assessment of services. This includes reviewing how safe and effective care is, how services are managed, and how organisations monitor and improve what they do for patients, staff and partners.
The accreditation process began as part of the North Kent Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) programme, where meeting UKAS standards is a requirement set by NHS England. The Radiology Department extended this work across all five of its sites:
- Darent Valley Hospital
- Queen Mary’s Hospital
- Community Diagnostic Centre
- Erith & District Hospital
- Gravesham Community Hospital
As part of the assessment, 112 areas for improvement were identified, all of which have now been completed.
The accreditation will remain valid until 2030, with regular assessments taking place throughout this period to ensure standards continue to be met.
This milestone reflects the department’s commitment to maintaining high standards and continuously improving services for patients across Dartford, Gravesham and the surrounding areas.
