Dr Alok Gupta, Clinical Director for Children and Young People Services and Lead Paediatric Diabetologist at DGT, joined fellow editors Dr Saket Gupta and Professor Katharine Barnard-Kelly in Parliament to discuss their new book, A Health Care Professional’s Guide on Digital Diabetes, with local MP Jim Dickson.
Alok is one of the book’s editors and has also contributed a chapter as an author.
Published by Springer Nature on 2 September 2026 in both hard copy and eBook formats, the 520-page book brings together more than 70 leading experts from different parts of the world across 29 sections.
The book provides a comprehensive look at diabetes care and technology, covering the many ways digital technology is being used in diabetes care. It brings together different professional perspectives, with experts from across the world contributing their knowledge and experience.
The Parliament event provided an opportunity to discuss the book and how digital innovation can support the future of diabetes care and healthcare 
more widely.
For DGT, it is a great example of the expertise and knowledge within our organisation being shared beyond the Trust. Alongside caring for patients every day, our staff contribute to research, education and innovation, helping to develop and share knowledge that can benefit healthcare more widely.
