Congratulations to Charmain Wright, our Head of Patient & Public Engagement and lead for patient experience, who has been announced as the winner of the Healthwatch awards for “Recognition for Excellence in Inspiring Individuals”.
Since joining in 2022, she has transformed how the Trust listens and learns from patient experiences. She has driven improvements across the organisation including:
- Improving patient experience at night with the option for patients to use eye masks and ear plugs and developed a night time charter to encourage a quieter, calmer ward.
- Co-ordinating the replacement of chairs in the ED waiting room to more comfortable seating.
- Ensuring there are toiletries for all patients who may not easily access their own.
- Progressing the patient experience forum to a very interactive and inclusive forum representing the voice of under-represented communities.
- Improving the accessibility of patient information.
Charmain was celebrated on the 26th February at the Healthwatch awards in Ashford, for her curiosity that demonstrates a genuine interest in what patients say and drives her commitment to improving patient experience across the Trust. Congratulations, Charmain!
