The NHS is Turning 70

Celebrating 70 years of the NHS

The National Health Service turned  70 on 5 July 2018. It’s was a perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of one of the nation’s most loved institutions, to appreciate the vital role the service plays in our lives, and to recognise and thank the extraordinary NHS staff who are there to guide, support and care for us, day in, day out.

What a fabulous #NHS70 birthday we had at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. Members of our executive team visited wards and departments at all of our hospital sites, marking the #NHS70 birthday and thanking staff for their hard work and dedication to our patients. They also handed out #NHS70 pin badges (all staff, volunteers and support service staff have or will be receiving a pin badges).

From 12 Noon there was a super tea party which took place in the Board Room with lots of staff and patients stories on display plus NHS artefacts used in healthcare over the years. Steve Fenlon, Medical Director gave an engaging speech about the history of NHS and also cut the NHS70 cake. Lots of other wards and departments held their own celebrations including Theatre Scheduling and Appointments. Take a look at all of the photographs of our wonderful staff members; we really couldn’t do it WITHOUT them!
