Drinda Harrigton STAR Award

Drinda Harrington STAR Award Winner

STAR Award

Congratulations Drinda Harrington, Parkinson’s Nurse who has been awarded a STAR award after being nominated by a patient who said “I write with regard to a member of your staff Drinda Harrington who in my opinion has gone over and above in helping manage my mum’s Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) condition.

I first met Drinda in October when I attended an appointment with both my parents at Darent Valley Hospital. It was a difficult meeting as I felt I wasn’t able to ask all those “awkward” question I needed to ask in front of my parents. Drinda kindly offered us all her email address enabling me to contact her and answer my questions. She really was amazing and replied to me very quickly and in a very professional way. Incidentally my parents were fully aware that I was doing this. Since then my mum’s condition has rapidly declined and everyday life has become increasingly difficult. Drinda has been able to advise me on what we can do and things we can put in place – she has been amazing and in my opinion gone over and above! And I can’t thank her enough.

Presently we are arranging for her colleague Grace to visit Mum and Dad to see if we can make things a little easier for my dad – as he is the main carer and of not in good health himself.

Anyway, I wanted to do this as thanks and recognition. Drinda is such a kind, helpful and understanding nurse and I can’t thank her enough.”

Drinda was presented with her certificate by Siobhan Callanan, Director of Nursing and is pictured with her colleagues.
