Yo Ho Ho Fun on Willow Ward

Shiver me timbers - lots of pirates came aboard Willow Ward today ready for their new Fun Friday. The idea started when we had several boy patients aged 8yrs to 10yr who said that they wanted to be pirates for the day. The boys spent lots of time creating palm trees, a pirate ship and treasure now displayed on the ward (pictured behind our staff in the photograph). This got the ward thinking about having a fun day once a month, so they have now introduced Fun Friday which will be held on the last Friday of the month.

This month all of the staff have dressed as pirates including nurses, doctors, students, pharmacist and of course the children. Later today the children will be decorating cakes, kindly donated by Chris Cheel from Carillion. This is being followed with pirate hat and spy glass making and then “pin the patch on the pirate!”. Next month’s Fun Friday theme is the Royal wedding.
