London Marathon 2018 Runners

Our sincere thanks to Gary, Ann and Joanne who all ran the London Marathon in aid of Darent Valley Hospital.

Gary Wright:
Finish time: 5hrs 34mins
Amount raised: On target to raise £2,000
Reason for running: Gary’s grandson has a congenital heart defect which means he is a regular patient at the hospital.

Gary said: “Lollipop was my only choice of charity, the willow ward have provided so much help and care to my grandson Tommy, the play team do an amazing job not only with Tommy but all the ill kids on the ward. Preparing for London marathon started Christmas day with a 10 mile run, and continued right up to last week thru the cold winter, the heat had a bad effect of most runners, me included. The crowd this year were amazing."

Ann Moyles:
Finish time: 5hrs 33mins
Amount raised: £1,400 to date
Reason for running: Runs for Dartford Harriers, and got a ballot place.

Ann said: “I was lucky enough to get a place in the London Marathon through the ballot, and having supported Stride4Life event for many years, and the Cancer Fighting Fund it benefits at the Hospital, I was pleased to be able to use this opportunity to raise even more money to help them reach their half a million target this year.”

Joanne Wigginton also ran for us and Macmillan. She raised her target of £640, £320 for each charity https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/JoanneWigginton

Joanne said "After 8 years of applying, I finally got lucky and have a place in this year’s London Marathon, more importantly, it’s also given me an opportunity to support two charities very important to me – Macmillan and Darent Valley Hospital: Cancer Fighting Fund.

Well done to you all, especially on such a hot day.
