Volunteer of the Year Award

Volunteer of the Year

On Monday 27th March the NHS Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley, NHS Medway and NHS Swale Clinical Commissioning Groups held a North Kent ‘Providers and Patients working in Partnership’ Patient Experience Learning Event.

The CCG's had asked for nominations to celebrate any local success stories of patients and staff working together to improve patient experience. Two nominations which were judged anonymously by the CCG were accepted for presentation from the following categories:

• ‘Volunteer of the Year’
• ‘Turning a negative into a positive’ Learning from complaints – patient and family videos.

Following each presentation members of the audience (which included service users, patient advocate services, Healthwatch, the CQC and NHS England) were asked to cast their vote for who they would like to win. Our congratulations to Joan Warwick and Carol Woodgate who were judged by the audience to be the winners in their category “Volunteer of the Year”. Their nomination reflected the £394,000 that they have raised for Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust Cancer Fighting Fund through the Stride4Life annual event, pamper evenings and engagement with the local community.

Sue Cox, Senior Governance Manager presented on their behalf and informed the audience how honoured we are to have these wonderful ladies working with us, and how proud we are of all our fabulous volunteers.
