Hospital Information for Patients Leaflet Launched

Leaflet.jpg

On Monday 20th March 2017, the Trust launched its new Hospital Information for Patients leaflet in the hospitals lobby. Patients and staff were given copies of the new leaflet, and Senior Managers and the Executive team were there to support the launch and engage with staff and visitors to the hospital. Patients were very impressed with the leaflet and felt that it would help them as well as reassure them of when they are admitted to the hospital of what they can expect.

The leaflet will be given to all patients who are admitted to hospital as in-patients either through an emergency or elective admissions route. It is a simple to follow 9 step guide of what patients can expect to happen through their journey here in the hospital from admission to discharge. There is also a contact section at the back of the leaflet for patients to contact services they might need when they return home and patients at the launch expressed that this is would be very helpful to them.

The leaflets have been distributed to all key areas such as: ED, Pre-op, Wards, and there is an electronic version on the Trusts website.

The Director of Nursing, Vikki Leivers-Carruth said: “We hope it will answer most of the questions patients may have and encourage them to ask more. We believe every patient should know the answers to four key questions; What is the matter with me? What is going to happen today? What is needed to get me home and when am I going home? As soon as a patient is admitted we begin working towards his/her estimated day of discharge. Hopefully, this leaflet will help patients understand more about how things work in hospital and play a greater part in determining their own healthcare”.
