Families offer feedback on paediatric neurology service

On Thursday 5th January 2017 Darent Valley Hospital hosted a paediatric neurology coffee morning for families to share their experiences and offer feedback on the neurology service provided by the hospital in an informal, relaxed setting.

All the families had come to the service through new care pathways, which have been designed to streamline and improve paediatric neurology care at Darent Valley Hospital. These pathways have been implemented as part of the Foundation Healthcare Group Vanguard programme – a pioneering partnership between Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust and Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust - which allows the two trusts to collaborate and share information more effectively, without the formal organisational change of a merger or acquisition.

Several families attended and shared their stories with the team. There was a great deal of positive feedback as well as further suggestions on how to continue improving patient care and experience.

Gerard Sammon, Deputy CEO / Joint Vanguard Programme Director for Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust said: “It was a great pleasure to meet so many inspirational families who are not only looking after children with complex neurological conditions, but who have also given their precious free time to offer vital feedback on our hospital’s paediatric neurology service.

This feedback is incredibly important as it allows us to continue improving access, outcomes and experience for all patients in our care.”
