Free WiFi

Free WiFi is available at Darent Valley Hospital. To connect:

  • Select 'NHS Wi-Fi' from the list of available wireless network connections
  • Once selected, you will be taken to a landing page where you will be prompted to read and accept the NHS Wi-Fi Use Policy
  • Once terms and conditions accepted you can access NHS Wi-Fi via your device.


Listen to a choice of national and local radio stations - all for free.

Valley Park Radio

Broadcasting on channel 1 to the patients and staff at Darent Valley Hospital.  To find out more about the radio services, send a request, publicise an event or arrange a PA by contacting Valley Park Radio directly on our 24 hour phone line 01322 428362 or 07958365147. We always welcome new volunteers, whether you have previous experience or not. Bedside television

The hospedia (formerly Patientline) bedside system gives you access to television channels, internet and email, a personal telephone with answerphone service and radio stations. For more information please visit the Hospedia website.


From the bedside to any UK landline (01, 02 and 03 to landlines are free) for other charges (including the charge for friends and family to telephone your bedside) visit the Hospedia website.

Setting up an account before entering hospital

You can buy hospedia services now for yourself, friend or family member by calling Customer Care Team on 0870 212 1234 (open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). If you pay by credit or debit card any money left over after the patient leaves can be refunded, simply by calling the customer care centre. 

Purchasing and topping up credit

Purchasing and topping up bedside credit to spend on TV and phone services at any time by calling the Customer Care Team on 0870 212 1234 (open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). Television and phone cards (£3.50, £5 or £10) are available from vending machines on the wards. Some of the vending machines have been taken out of service on selected wards, vending machines for cards are now available at the following locations only.

How to call a patient in hospital

Hospedia's telephone service is designed to help you speak directly to the right patient without having to speak to the nurse station. Each patient has their own personal telephone number. If you do not know their personal telephone number you can call Customer Care Team on 0870 212 1234 (calls charged at national rate.)

Calling from abroad

You can dial hospedia telephone numbers beginning with 0704 from other countries.

How to dial

  • Dial the number that allows you to make an international call (for example 00), followed by the country code for the United Kingdom (44) - ie 00 44.
  • Then dial the patient's personal telephone number taking care not to dial the first 0 - for example 00 44 704 456 4567.
